Every solar job we do starts on the roof, not on the phone. We look at the pitch, the direction it faces, the state of the tiles and anything that shades it through the day, then we look at your actual electricity use. Only then do we tell you what size system makes sense and what it would realistically save. If your roof is a poor fit we say so. It is a better outcome than selling you panels that never pay for themselves.
Bristol roofs vary more than most. The Victorian terraces in Bedminster, Southville and Totterdown often need scaffold and careful work around old tiles and party walls. How long does a solar installation take?
Most Bristol homes are done in one to two days on the roof, plus a day either side for scaffold up and down. We give you the dates before we start and we keep to them.
Do I need planning permission for solar panels in Bristol?
Usually not. Panels on a normal house roof are permitted development in most cases. Listed buildings and some conservation areas are the exception, so we check your address before we quote and tell you where you stand.
Do you handle the paperwork and the grid notification?
Yes. We test and certify the electrical work, MCS register the system and notify your network operator. You get the certificates you need to set up your export payments without chasing anyone.
Can I add a battery later instead of now?
Yes, and plenty of people do. We can wire the install so a battery drops in easily later, or fit both together if the numbers stack up better that way. We will show you the difference honestly either way.
